Chicago!

I mentioned in my last post that I have been a little stir crazy and really ready for an adventure. Well I finally got Brad on board with me and we are going to Chicago! Woohoo! I am so excited. We are going out the first week in July which means we will be there for the 4th of July! So we have a little while before we go but it is something that we are both looking forward to for sure! Brad is a huge Cubs fan and it worked out perfect because they are playing at home the whole time we are there! Brad is going to be like a little kid there- I am so excited for that! So if any of you have been there before we are definitely looking for suggestions for things to do, places to eat!

Here are some things we are looking forward to most:

Did I mention the Cubs?!

Musuem of Science and Industry

Water Tower Place mall! Can we say Shopping!

Hey Darci, it's Kara. I have a friend from Chicago and I asked her if she'd blog a comment about places to see there. Don't be alarmed if you get a comment from the Strom's. Have fun on that trip!

Hi there! I just read Kara's comment, so it looks like she gave you a head's up I might be writing. My name is Kerry and I grew up in Chicago. My family has been there for 28 years and I go back there to visit at least 2-3 times a year. Chicago is a GREAT city and you are going during a great time! To really do Chicago right, you want to go in the summer when the weather is nice. I too am a huge Cubs fan! I would just recommend getting your tickets as soon as possible, because they sell out fast. Also, take "The L" (short for elevated train) to Wrigley. It's cheap and drops you right off at the park, whereas parking is a complete nightmare and brutally expensive. As for places to eat, you almost can't go wrong. Portillos Hot Dogs, Giordanos Pizza, Grand Lux Cafe are just a few that come to mind. If you have a specific kind of food you're looking for, let me know and I can get more specific. Bring your running shoes/roller blades and go along Lake Shore Drive. It's beautiful! Also, aside from the Museum of Science and Industry which you mentioned, there are several awesome museums all clustered together: Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum, all of which are fabulous. Close by to those is Navy Pier. This is where all the ships dock and there are some great boat rides you can do for reasonable prices. The world-famous Art Institute of Chicago is on Michigan Avenue and aside from Watertower place, there is great shopping on both State street and Michigan Ave. And over the 4th of July is also when they do "Taste of Chicago" where hundreds of restaurants are represented and also free concerts downtown. Hope that gets you started. Have a great time!

Oh how fun! You guys are going to have a blast. Chicago sounds like a great place to visit. I am too scared to even leave Utah with Kylie. Hey I collect thimbles, would you mind getting me one? I can give you money before you leave. Have lots of fun!
